Dr Michael Levitt AM FRACS

“In quest of high quality conversation”

Michael Levitt is a medical practitioner, currently Medical Co-Director of Surgical Services at Sir Charles Gairdner-Osborne Park Hospital Clinical Group within the North Metropolitan Health Service. He has been active in Jewish Community life since his University years, and having been a board member and board President at both Carmel School and the Perth Hebrew Congregation.

He has also served on a number of health-related boards, and in a number of senior posts within the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He was awarded a Centennial Medal for services to public education about bowel cancer in 2003 and an AM for services to professional bodies in 2022.

Michael is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles, several surgical text book chapters and three books about bowel health aimed at the general public. He has authored two works of fiction both set in the Australian art world. Michael is married to Carolyn and has three adult children and three grandchildren.

Members and friends of CCJWA are invited to a Shabbat Service at Temple David, Perth’s Progressive Synagogue.  Following the service, you will have the opportunity of sharing a meal with members of the Temple David Congregation.

The Jewish Progressive movement started in Germany more than 200 years ago.  Women and men enjoy complete equality. Temple David’s Rabbi, Kim Ettlinger was ordained some 20 years ago and took up her appointment at Temple David four years ago.
