The occasional address based on Genesis 1-2, was in recognition of the 50th anniversary this year of the Vatican II declaration Nostre Aetate on the Relation of the Church with Non-Christian Religions.

Film: Divided We Fall directed by Jan Hrebejk

Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in 2000, the story is set in a Czech village occupied by the Nazis during World War II.  A childless couple, Josef and Marie Cizek decide to harbour the Jewish son of Josef's former employer, who is the sole survivor of his family and has escaped from a concentration camp in Poland and returned to the village seeking refuge.


Evening Worship with the Winthrop SingersDr Michael Champion, Lay Chaplain and Rabbi Dovid Freilich

The worship was held in the Chapel and led by Dr Sarah Gador-Whyte, Co-Dean of Studies and Lay Chaplain, St George's College. The liturgy for the occasion acknowledged the continuity between Jewish and Christian worship and was appropriate for those of either faith.  It featured sacred choral works - including several from the Jewish tradition - sung by the Winthrop Singers, directed by Lucian Watkins, A/Director.

Dr Ron Hoenig is a lecturer and tutor in journalism at The University of South Australia, the Deputy Chair of the ACCJ and the Jewish Co-Chair of the CCJ (SA), President of Beit Shalom Synagogue, and a member of the reference group of the Abraham Institute.
